The Claber Jumbo - 8900 This is the Daddy of Hose Reels
Made entirely in metal, this 4-wheel hose reel cart is designed to take on any task. It guarantees perfect drum turning, thanks to the Silent Block. It has an ideal capacity for large-sized gardens.
Hose cart with 4 wheels. The frame and drum are constructed entirely of metal. Resistant to the elements, thanks to its epoxy resin surface treatment. Metal parts coupled by way of Silent block mounts. Zinc coated parts. Drum at 90°. Large diameter wheels with anti-flat tyres. Comes with 2 metres Ø 5/8” (15 mm) extension hose and couplings. Supplied as kit, quick and easy to assemble. Hose reel capacity 165 m (1/2” hose), 130 m (5/8” hose) or 75 m (3/4” hose).

The fitting is doing a great job and I have made good use of it over these few days. It was so easy to fit then use straight away.
Very simple to lay out. Joins to the 13mm non leak fittings very simply. Easy to cut to the right length with strong scissors or a blade.
I laid this out on the lawn on a sunny day so that it would relax and straighten out from its roll. Then it was very simple just to lay out on my raised beds and borders. It is easy to cut with strong scissors and then use with 13mm no leak elbows and other 13mm fittings. All the little holes have some gubbins behind them to hold the drip rate along the pipe fairly even. I’ve used all 50 metres..so there are about 150 outlets…using about 300 litres per hour. I’ll try it for half an hour on dry weeks. I can’t imagine only using 15 watering cans to water so much ground. The hose used to get through about 500 litres an hour. Towards the end of the run, I’ve used two 13mm to 4mm outlets and taken each of those about 6 metres to hanging baskets. The drippers still had plenty of flow.
Then there’s the time saving…it’s automatic on a timer! Much better than getting up early and going out in the evening. I could also use it to water in bright sunlight…as the water drips out to the soil and spreads through capillary action. The leaves of plants don’t get ‘burned’.
This is a robust three zone timer. It only took a couple of minutes to learn how to use it in two ways. 1) ‘Manual’ use. I first used this to check out the plumbing I’d installed around the greenhouse and garden. I didn’t want to set up the watering for 5am and get up then. It’s very simple to follow the instructions to set up, for example, 5 minutes of immediate flow on the individual zones. All I could hear was the water beginning to flow. Other timers can make quite a noise as motors drive valves. This one is very quiet. 2) The programming of the zones. Again the instructions are clear. It’s done by just choosing a zone, the duration, the time between repeats and then the start time.
It also has a child lock.
The display is clear and turns off after a few minutes. I expect the batteries last a year or more. The batteries are held in a watertight compartment.
These are brilliant. Strong and easy to use both connecting at each end to 13mm pipe and the 4mm pipe to the outlets.
Garden Watering gave me a great little tip. Have a flask of hot water and dip about 1 cm of the end of the 4mm pipe into it. That slightly softens the pipe and it goes onto the barbed nozzle more easily.
I've used lots of these in the greenhouse with no leaks.
Garden Watering have gone the extra mile helping me to design a large system in my garden. I started knowing nothing...except that its possible to use automatic watering in greenhouses. ( I decided to use their components, as a friend had a system using a well known brand's 13mm feed pipe with 4mm punch through connectors...which tend to leak. )
Now I have a three zone system with no leaks...that waters my greenhouse, a set of raised beds and borders and a patio.
In reaching that stage, they provided invaluable help and advice.
They've been cheerful as they explained what I needed...and were patient as I kept expanding my needs every few days. The system worked first time after I installed it...thats over 50 metres of drip feed pipe in raised beds and borders...plus around 70 pots of various sizes both in the greenhouse and on a patio.
These are sturdy units. I started as a novice but now installed a large system in my greenhouse and garden. I've used lots of these. None have leaked. Strong positive connections.
Garden Watering have gone the extra mile helping me to design, build and extend a large three zone irrigation system. I am impressed by the quality of the non leaking outlets fittings and three zone programmable timer.
I am a total novice. I have completed the Greenhouse zone with a variety of 50+ non leaking outlets. Almost finished the raised bed and border zone…with 50+ metres of ‘rain bird’ pipe - routed to three different raised beds and border. The final patio zone with 20 varied pots being watered will be built by me next week.
This will save me more than an hour a day of watering…let alone neighbours when we are away.
