Anti Leak Irrigation Fittings for that Perfect Connection

Technical guide

Anti-Leak Irrigation Fittings - The Perfect Watertight Connection

Leaking fittings waste water, kill plants and create frustrating maintenance. Our anti-leak range uses a compression-style locking nut to eliminate drips at every connection even when buried underground.

What are anti-leak fittings?

Standard push-fit irrigation fittings work by pressing the pipe into a barbed connector. They're quick to install, but over time through pressure fluctuations, heat, frost and soil movement they can loosen and leak. A dripping connection loses water slowly but continuously, and is often invisible until plants start dying.

Anti-leak fittings solve this with a compression-style locking nut, the same mechanism used in household plumbing. The nut threads onto the fitting body and physically clamps the pipe in place, creating a seal that won't pull loose under pressure or movement. Once tightened, the connection is secure enough to bury underground without concern.

We supply anti-leak fittings for both 13mm main supply hose and 4mm micro supply hose, so every part of your system from the tap to the individual dripper can be given a leak-free connection.

Unique to Garden Watering
Our anti-leak fitting range is exclusive to us. You won't find this locking nut compression design in standard irrigation retailers it's a product we're genuinely proud of stocking.

Why choose anti-leak fittings?

Eliminates leaks
The locking nut creates a mechanical seal that won't loosen with heat, pressure or pipe movement unlike push-fit connectors.
Safe to bury underground
Unlike push-fit fittings which can be dislodged by soil movement, anti-leak fittings maintain their seal when buried ideal for permanent installations.
Saves time & money
Fewer leaks mean less maintenance, less water waste, and lower water bills especially important on metered supplies or in areas with water restrictions.
Works with both pipe sizes
Available for 13mm main supply pipe and 4mm micro tubing so every connection in your system can benefit from the anti-leak design.
Long-term reliability
Resistant to UV, soil moisture and temperature extremes. Install once and forget no annual tightening or replacement needed.
Easy to install
Hand-tighten the locking nut no tools required. Just insert the pipe and thread the nut finger-tight for a secure, professional connection.

Anti-leak vs traditional push-fit fittings

Both fitting types work well when first installed. The difference shows over time when the system heats up in summer, when the ground shifts in winter, or when water pressure spikes. Here's how they compare:

Feature Anti-leak fittings Traditional push-fit
Connection type Compression locking nut Push-fit barb
Leak resistance over time ✓✓✓ Excellent ✓✓ Good initially
Safe to bury underground Yes Not recommended
Resistance to pipe movement High Can pull loose
Resistance to heat expansion Yes ~ Varies
Installation time ~ Slightly longer Fastest
Maintenance required None ~ Occasional retightening
CT clip needed No ~ Sometimes
When a push-fit fitting leaks underground
Buried push-fit fittings can silently leak for weeks before any surface signs appear by which time significant water has been wasted and soil erosion may have occurred around the joint. Anti-leak fittings remove this risk entirely.

Installation tips

Anti-leak fittings are straightforward to install no special tools needed. Follow these tips for the best results:

Step What to do
1Cut pipe cleanly Use a pipe cutter for a clean, square end. A ragged or angled cut can prevent the locking nut from sealing correctly and may cause a slow drip even when tightened.
2Push pipe fully home Before threading the nut, push the pipe all the way into the fitting until it reaches the internal stop. You should feel a slight resistance when it seats correctly.
3Hand-tighten the nut Thread the locking nut onto the fitting body and tighten firmly by hand no tools needed. Do not use a spanner; over-tightening can crack the nut and compromise the seal.
4Test before burying Run water through the system for several minutes and visually check each anti-leak fitting for drips. Only cover connections with soil or mulch once you're satisfied there are no leaks.
5Match the pipe size Anti-leak fittings are available for 13mm main supply pipe and 4mm micro tubing. Always check the size before installing a 13mm nut will not seal a 4mm pipe correctly.
6Mix fitting types if needed You don't need to convert your entire system at once. Use anti-leak fittings at buried junctions and hard-to-reach points; standard push-fit connectors can remain elsewhere above ground.
Prioritise anti-leak fittings at buried junctions
If you're mixing fitting types, always use anti-leak at any connection that will be buried or is difficult to access once installed. These are the joints most likely to cause problems with standard push-fit connectors.
