💧 Water source & pressure

Pop-up sprinklers require adequate pressure and flow. Let's measure what you have.

ℹ️ Mains tap: Typical UK mains pressure is 1.5–4 bar. Flow rate from a garden tap is usually 12–20 L/min but can be lower. Measure yours below.

ℹ️ Bore hole / well: Pressure and flow depend entirely on your pump. Check your pump specifications for max flow rate (L/min) and working pressure (bar). You must have a pressure tank/accumulator for consistent pressure.

⚠️ Water tank / IBC: Gravity-fed tanks provide very low pressure (~0.1 bar per metre of height). For pop-up sprinklers you will need a pump to achieve the minimum 1.5–2 bar required. Ensure your pump delivers at least 14 L/min.

🪣 How to measure your flow rate

Get a bucket of known volume — e.g. 10 litres, clearly marked.

Fully open your garden tap and time how long to fill the bucket.

Calculate: Flow = (bucket size ÷ seconds) × 60. E.g. 10L in 40 sec = 15 L/min.

🌿 Sprinkler system choice

Choose one system only — Claber and Rain Bird components cannot be mixed on the same zone.

🔵 Claber Colibrì System 🔴 Rain Bird 3504 Series

Claber Colibrì — Low-pressure gear-drive micro-sprinklers designed specifically for garden taps. Ideal for smaller lawns up to ~150 m². Three fixed arc options.

⚠️ Claber rule: Never mix Colibrì sprinklers with other types (turbines, drip, etc.) on the same line. Max pipe run 18–19 m per zone. Recommended tap flow: 16–18 L/min at 2 bar.

Rain Bird 3504-PC — Professional 4" pop-up rotor, fully adjustable 40°–360°. Wider coverage than Claber, higher flow requirements. Better for larger lawns and professional results.

ℹ️ Rain Bird note: Larger radius than Claber so fewer heads needed. For full-circle heads at nozzle 3+, ensure your tap delivers ≥10 L/min per head. Use multi-zone if flow is limited.
